Penn State University, USA
Electrical Engineering

Matthew recently graduated from Penn State University’s College of Engineering with concurrent degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering. Named student marshal at his commencement ceremony, he was recognised for his outstanding academic achievement and his contributions to engineering student life.

Matthew won numerous awards at Penn State: the President Sparks Award awarded to students who earn a 4.0 cumulative GPA in each year of their studies at the university; and the Evan Pugh Scholars Award, which is presented to students in the upper 0.5 per cent of their classes with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.99. He earned these prestigious awards in both his junior and senior year of undergraduate study.

Matthew spent five summers gaining valuable experience with Dart, initially with Dart Realty working on Camana Bay and then with DECCO I Dart Development on the Kimpton Hotel project. Both times he observed, and experienced first-hand, the roles of mechanical and electrical engineers.

Matthew received a scholarship from Penn State to pursue a combined Master's/PhD in electrical engineering and will focus his learning and research on signal and image processing within the area of medical diagnostic equipment.
